It's my understanding that the 8 acres include the Wallis house it's one of the few original structures still remaining from 1850. It was used as headquarters of Union General Oliver O Howard which heavy fighting took place on July 27,1862. Harrison Hill is where the fighting took place. It will allow visitors a better understanding of the Union army position and conflict. Since the Cobb Country are the owners they have express desire to covey the land to the National Park Service as the county hasn't the funds to maintain it. This piece of history is a direct reason for Atlanta to be lost in the civil war. It's a win for everybody in preserving history.
