I agree with the stated goals of the fairness doctrine, but I remember the broadcast and news environment of the media under the fairness doctrine and I do not believe that it made any difference. In the 1960s, 70s, and 80s (until repeal) the American “MSM“ harbored a distinctly liberal bias in the way the news was selected and expressed. In fact, the reason for repealing the fairness doctrine was to open a way of giving the public an antidote to the steady stream of liberal indoctrination posing as somehow middle of the road. Since then, entire corporations have been bought and sold in efforts to control information and public thinking. We all see the problem, but restoring the fairness doctrine will not be the solution. Because I remember it, I’m not for it.
