I have revisited this bill. Not sure that this is the appropriate vehicle to alleviate the poverty. I believe that any progress to help a determined person to get off social services is a step in the right direction. Many people have ended up there by means not of their own making or desires. Once there, it is very difficult to get out, especially with children. If this grant program can demonstrate that the potential is there to assist Citizens in getting out on their own, then improvements may be added to the program in the future, to make it more effective in alleviating the disadvantages of trying to make it on your own. As it stands, once a person obtains even a part-time job, their benefits are cut drastically or completely, leaving the children with no healthcare and barely enough for food. They want to get away from the system, but the cards are stacked against them, even more than against the middle-class. Sad really. If we gave them the opportunity, they would show all of us that they are strong-willed, motivated and intelligent and can be successful, if not continually set back in a place that someone or some group thinks they should remain.
