The FBI Director serves at the discretion of the President, just like every other Executive Branch official that requires Senate confirmation. Why should this position be different? The position already carries a maximum 10 year term, long enough to maintain a continuity of excellent service should it be warranted. I think it’s obvious the days of political impartiality is gone and the whole service may need a deep cleaning. Don’t just single out this office because it’s convenient for the story you want to believe.
