I grew up in a town whose water supply and local lakes and rivers were severely polluted by local industry. Everyone complained, and many got sick. Nothing changed until the EPA came along and enforced the law. Now that water is clean again and people have a beautiful environment. Eliminating the EPA is a stupid and irresponsible idea. Do not imagine that local or state agencies can or will act with the same clout. They are too close to the business and community concerns that are responsible for creating the problem. Duke Power coal ash ponds in NC are are perfect example, and there are many more. It is possible to enforce regulations that protect health, the environment and communities, and to also be business friendly. That's what we need.
