As an Enviornmental worker as well as a master in other fields and a voting conservative conservation minded person! Clean up of former industrial areas is a must as what is in the soil wether it is oil products, chemicals or even metals. They have a good chance of sleeping into local water tables and under ground streams etc. The soil can be remediated and actually incinerated! And replaced! It is Federal Law that the former company (s) be made to pay for the clean up but in most cases this is held up in court for years as there might have been several owners of the property! Also companies may have been long out of business for decades and if its a small company who exhausts that you can tag with responsibility! I agree that funding should be put forth for clean up and Enviornmental companies awarded contracts as long as they put people to work especially folks trying to dig their way out of the welfare/ food stamp program! Also young students that are so looking for say summer jobs! That way people can really understand how and why this happened! It’s all about learning to conserve and put value back into something that was lost! I hope I made sense! I tend to be long winded on Countable!
