I’m of the opinion that it’s the people on the ground who generally know better how to allocate their resources to address the needs in their area. Addiction is a major problem, and one that requires aggressive solutions. Don’t hold back. Increase funding. Increase flexibility. Incorporate accountability and checks and balances to ensure the funds are managed appropriately. Keep more current with research into addiction treatment options. Allow for on-the-fly changes when methods aren’t working or when there are new methods that are more effective. Partner with medical research organizations to participate in trials. Develop actionable data and act on it. It takes funding and flexibility.
