First, let's get over the money that Congress stole from Social Security. The government BORROWED that money. It's part of the federal debt, and one of Social Security's best payoffs is the interest collected on that loan. Second, let's get past the word "Social" meaning that 1950's bogeyman "Socialism". This just plain ain't the same thing in any way, shape, or form. It's more of a retirement plan, like a federal 401k program. Third, the reason they call it an entitlement is because people really ARE entitled to the money that came out of their paychecks for their entire careers. It's not people getting free handouts. All that said, I think this should be done by an independent and totally nonpartisan committee of financial experts who don't have anything to do with any politicians.
