As an insulin resistant diabetic, this is just a bad idea. Put daily recess where the children are outside running and playing at least 30 minutes during the school day back into the school schedule & budget. If they can’t be outside, they at least need to be able to play in the gymnasium and/or lunchroom for the same amount of time. Get rid of the artificial flavors, chemicals and dyes from the food and go back to good and logical portion control. Take the PlayStations, game boys, tablets, cellphones and other gadgets not necessary for schoolwork or work and put time, energy and or financial restrictions on them, I.e. 15 minutes of play/screen time requires 30 minutes of physical (of some sort) activity, chores, or even reading a book or magazine in paper or electronically. This may not reduce or control the rising numbers of obesity or diabetes, but it’s got to be a better and smarter path then an oversight committee, that is just going to cost the taxpayers more money and graft in the long run.
