All of my relatives on my mother's side of the family were farmers, and I always considered them the backbone of our country. Whenever there was a family wedding or funeral, it would always be held at 2:30 in the afternoon so that all the uncles could be back home in time to milk the cows and feed the pigs and horses. When the economy was bad, those uncles and my grandfather made do with less and borrowed from the local bank and prayed. And of course their hard work fed lots of people. I'll always be in favor of any program that helps farmers stay on the land to which they devote their lives.
