Our Declaration of Independence recognizes that every human being has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In fact, it calls those rights unalienable. By not providing universal healthcare coverage we leave the poor and sickly among us without even the right to sustain their lives. You truly want to make America great again? Vote in favor of universal healthcare. If there is one area of the bill that I feel needs to be amended, it would be the part that makes it illegal for insurance companies to sell the same coverage that is already provided by the government. In all of the social programs we have in this country, we have not eliminated the free market from the industry. We still have private schools where there are tax funded schools on competition, we still have parcel delivery companies where we have a tax funded postal system, and we still have private security firms where we have tax funded police services. There's no reason why the private insurance industry can't coexist with universal public health coverage. However, if this part of the bill must be kept to pass it, still vote in favor of universal public healthcare.
