19% is too low of a tax on people making over $70,000 a year, and far too low for over $100,000. If someone makes $15,000 a year, a 19% tax cuts into their basic means of survival, including paying for health care, shelter, and food. A 19% tax on a millionaire, however, doesn't make such a person held accountable for paying a fair share. If they make $2 million a year, then a 19% tax would barely dent their budget and not sufficiently provide for public services others depend on. This bill is an attempt to give very wealthy people an option to pay far less than their fare share. So much for Republicans being all about "balancing the budget"; we cannot afford their desire for exorbitant defense spending if we continue to slash taxes, let alone afford to pay off our $19 trillion of debt.
