Here’s the thing, War is War. Conflict is not so obvious in current warfare, especially in the Middle East. Most of the time, those who are gaining footholds in States use civilians as shields to protect themselves. Take Hamas and the Houthi rebels in Yemen. In both cases, Israel and the Saudi-led coalition use force to target where missiles and mortar fire are coming from, which is strategically placed to be in civilian centers to protect the attackers from retaliation. When a coalition or Israel responds, the coalition or Israel loses face internationally for attacking civilian locations, but they are only protecting themselves. You can condemn this act of warfare, but there is no way around it. You can condemn Iran until we are blue in the face for stirring up sectarian descent, but in reality that has been the life of the Middle East since the partite of the two religious sects in power. I support the war efforts going on over there and instead of condemning those who respond to indiscriminate fire against openly unguarded civilians against those hiding behind the civilians firing the weapons, its time we truly open our eyes and realize there is very little a military can do against insurgent warfare regarding civilian deaths.
