I desperately want to see an answer to all gun violence, but especially the mass murder of our children. But, while I suppose I appreciate the effort and the additional financial resources I cannot support this bill. As best I can understand it from the information provided here I find this bill to be shallow and misguided. The bill fails to address the deep seated societal issues but instead flippantly offers up more of the same tired old answers of more guns and turning schools into prisons. Skipped over and ignored are the practical common sense measures most Americans support such as universal background checks and a ban on AR-15s and similar assault riffles. I also find it concerning that this bill is likely to put even more money in the pockets of the same greedy gun industry who is at the root of the problem and for whom the domestic terrorist NRA is the advocate and mouthpiece and to whom too many of our legislators have sworn unquestioning allegiance. This is not the answer we are looking for. This is not the answer we need and deserve. Congress needs to come up with something much better than this bill. Our children are dying because of gun violence and we will no longer be placated with superficial half-a** responses by a weak Congress who then wants to turn around and celebrate themselves for doing damned near nothing. Do better. We want meaningful, effective solutions. We’re done with depthless, hollow subterfuge.
