Per Earthjustice: "The Stream Protection Rule is a modest rule that’s been in the works for close to a decade. This long-awaited update to surface mining regulations provides communities with information they need about water contamination caused by nearby coal mining operations. It includes several important safeguards for clean water and the well-being of communities living near coal mines." Clean water for those individuals living near coal mines is far more important than jobs in this industry. As it stands, a repeal of the ACA threatens coverage for those with black lung disease and to further expose these workers, their families and their communities to unsafe drinking water adds insult to injury.
