I am pleased that my representatives have come down on the right and just side of this argument. While protecting Americans is a just cause, this action of preventing refugees and legal visa holders from entry to the United States does no such thing. What it does do is breed distrust of the United States from our allies in the Middle East, and paint America as a paranoid people -- eager to put other countries and people at risk, but accept no risk of our own when fighting a mutual enemy. The United States must maintain its standing as an open and accepting nation; and yes, that means difficult conversations about how to do that safely. Flat out bans on countries that contain allies is only going to further alienate America from the world, and make us no safer.
