We already have a system that pays for everyone's health care. It's called emergency room services. Unfortunately it's the most expensive and least effective way to pay for health care. All of us who have insurance pay that cost in much higher insurance and hospital costs. That's why a box of timber cut Kleenex adds $30.00 to your hospital stay. When we add the profit margin from the insurance companies to the bottom line we Americans pay higher medical costs for a generally worse outcome. A national health care system would rationalize the medical industry the same way that standardized parts and sizes rationalized manufacturing. And it would ultimately cost less. But I guess that would make too much sense.
