Border security is essential and important. An open conversation on why that is true, and options as to how that can happen needs to take place. Negotiators need to suspend whatever position they may have and talk about why border security is important. They need to talk about what their interests are in securing the border. When interests are discussed common ground will be found. From the common ground, options on how to fulfill their interests needs to be discussed. A win-win outcome is actually pretty easy with this issue, but we can’t have children as the negotiators!
