This wasn’t an accident, this soldier executed the prisoner with premeditation. The soldier knew the law and deliberately broke it. It’s not up to him to pass a sentence on a prisoner, much less to kill a prisoner at his sole discretion. If we’re to be different than the terrorists, we must behave differently. We must observe laws designed to provide for dealing with prisoners. If this behavior is sanctioned because we don’t like the prisoner or their crimes, where does that stop?
