Your Turn: What Should We Do About Social Security?

Keeping Congressional fingers out of Social Security will help - as in making it impregnable to Congressional raids or “borrowing”. Here are some additional thoughts. We should make everyone pay into the system no matter what their income level or type of income, with no upper cutoff. We should increase the Social Security tax minimally to add to the fund over time. We should have an amount, let’s say $1000 just to think about it, deposited by the federal or state government upon the issuance of each new Social Security number to give a boost to future growth. I’m sure there are a million additional ideas - but we can’t depend on Congress to do anything about it.
