I am a navy veteran and work in the commercial energy field. I struggle with the fact that the government is not allowing diversity. Currently because of the lack of regulatory requirements on natural gas it is driving energy prices down. This is in turn affecting nuclear power plants who serve as reliable, base load, carbon free power. Diversity is important on an electrical grid especially when we have a single point vulnerability in natural gas. Also for the comment on “I pay extra for renewables,”you should educate yourself in the fact that the electric grid cannot send you only solar panels or windmills. Your power could very well be coming from other sources. I hope that we can figure out a long term energy strategy that includes a diverse portfolio of power.
