senate Bill S. 758

Should Federal Tax Dollars Fund Abortions?

Argument in favor

Abortion coverage for women who receive their health coverage from the federal government is a matter of public health and reproductive rights. Blocking federal funding for abortion disproportionately hurts low-income and minority women as well as women in D.C., the military and the Peace Corps.

Abortions still take place even when it’s illegal. The only difference is safety. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade , women of means will still be getting safe abortions. Women who are poor, minorities, rape survivors, abused and very young will be at highest risk for botched abortions. These are the very people our government should be helping the most.

Healthcare is healthcare. “Don’t wanna pay for murder” 🤣🤣🙄 Me either. We should stop electing warmongering psychos, stop the four unauthorized wars, and quit fueling the Yemen genocide. 6 kids have died in the ICE concentration camps. We pay for lots of murder, and abortion ain’t any of it.

The Hyde amendment needs to be repealed! The reproductive rights of women is a matter of societal health, therefore the government should fund it!

Argument opposed

Preventing federal dollars’ use for abortion funding is an important free speech protection for those who oppose abortion on religious or personal grounds. Using taxpayer money to fund abortion would necessarily mean that all Americans, regardless of personal beliefs, would be involved in enabling abortion — violating abortion opponents’ free speech rights.

If you want the government to stay out of your decision to have a baby or not then why do you want the government to pay for you to kill your baby? Also, FYI the government doesn’t pay for it, the tax payers do, so no, don’t make me pay for you to kill your baby because you made a bad decision to have unprotected sex.

I am 72 years old and have been fighting for abortion rights since I was 19. If anything, I see even more clearly now that a legal alternative to the “coat hanger” abortion is needed.

The government does not decide what women do with their lives. But what the government should do is provide a single-payer healthcare system. Abortion is healthcare; therefore, it would fall under that healthcare system and be covered by taxes.

Birth control and abortions need to be fully funded or the only people that will be able to afford either will be rich women. You need to trust women, it’s our body and our choice. Or start a mandatory vasectomy program since that’s easily reversible .

Abortions are healthcare. To the extent that the federal government funds healthcare, abortions should be covered. We👏Are👏 Not👏A👏Theocracy👏 Our laws are not driven by pre-scientific religious claptrap.

Mathew 7 for all the Bible bashers. You may not like it just as many people do not like spending trillions on defense contractors or funding corporate tax breaks at the expense of the taxpayer but we should not be intervening in a matter of healthcare that should be between the woman, partner, doctor and her “god”.

Assuming we all agree men & women are equal, then yes. There are no exclusions for any male only health needs, so why would there be any for women?

Abortions fall under healthcare, and the government should definitely use taxes to fund this. Abortion should remain a right for women, and this bill provides this service to women using taxes. I support this bill.

Many women in my family have died in childbirth or become disabled from a pregnancy. We also have had several fetal abnormalities that required an abortion. This should be covered by healthcare

This is a healthcare issue for disenfranchised women. It is not a moral or religious issue. If you don’t believe in abortion, don’t have one. Any restriction on abortion is endangering those most at risk.

Not allowing federal funds to be used for abortions unfairly penalized women of color and poor women. The full federal funding of ALL aspects of women’s health care would make it possible to bring the levels of poor healthy babies and moms of color closer to the levels experienced among white middle-class and working white and wealthier moms and babies. It’s about equity and fairness, and the woman’s right to decide in consultation with her physician what is best for her. Please vote to end this law which imbedded inequality into our healthcare system!

If federal dollars fund other medical procedures, then it should fund abortion. Stop getting righteous about other people’s medical decisions.

Reproductive Rights are Human Rights But Abortion’s Are Murder. Do l support the Senator Harris “Reproductive Rights Act”.... Heck NO. NO Way do I recommend or support passage of the Senator Harris Evil 🦹‍♀️ “Reproductive Rights Act” which is nothing more than the advancement of the Democrats and Senator Harris’s desire of using abortions killing the human fetus from conception to now the conduct of “Live Birth” abortions. HERE’S HOW SENATOR HARRIS WANTS IT TO BE DONE ✅ * States and localities with a history of unconstitutionally restricting access to abortion will be required to pre-clear any new law or practice with the Department of Justice. *   No abortion law or practice will take effect until the Department of Justice certifies it comports with Roe v. Wade. * Guardrails will ensure DOJ enforces the law even under an administration that’s hostile to women’s rights—and patients and providers will have standing to sue if they don’t. This is just one way Harris will fight back against the all-out assault being waged on women’s health and reproductive rights. She’ll also wants to continuing in the protection of Planned Parenthood from Republican attempts to defund abortion health services, * And nominate judges who respect Roe v. Wade, * And fight to repeal the Hyde Amendment, * And reverse the Trump Administration’s illegal attempts to cut evidence-based Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program grants, * And immediately roll back dangerous and discriminatory rules the Administration put in place to limit access to contraception and safe abortion in the United States and around the world. For me abortions are evil 👿 except for the cases of rape, incest, or health concerns for the mother. SneakyPete..... 👿👎🏻Abortions👿👎🏻. 6*7*19..... SneakyPete..... 👎🏻👎🏻ABOTIONS👎🏻👎🏻. 6.7.19.....
