senate Bill S. 721

Mar-a-Lago Act: Should the White House be Required to Release its Visitor Logs?

Argument in favor

The American public has a right to know who their president is meeting with behind closed doors, especially when the details of the meeting aren’t published. This requirement should be mandatory and cover any place the president and vice president do business.

Of course he should make public who visits him at Mar-A-Lago. And yes, I would expect Hillary to do the same. Trump should also release his most recent ten years of FULL tax documents and he should fully divest himself of all international properties and close to the public any domestic properties he plans to use as a "southern Whitehouse" or retreat. Anything less and he must be impeached ASAP!

I want transparency from the white house. We deserve to know who is lobbying or advising the president

As someone who is old enough to remember twelve days in October 1962 when we stood on the brink of WW3, I find it difficult that people my own age are lining up behind this loose cannon we have in the White House. Are we so deep in our own bubble that we have forgotten about diplomacy, common sense and human kindness? I get some young people heeding his rallying cry. We just smile and say "bless your heart" (what an idiot)! First off Mr. President, that's not your military it belongs to the nation. You work for us not the other way around, and may I remind you that a majority did not want you. You need to think before you act or tweet. If you really want to be the leader of the most powerful nation on earth, show us, release your taxes, pay for your own plane to Florida, be open about who you're meeting with, think of all those seniors and not wealthy people who voted for you, and for the love of all that is holy, stay off the golf course a while. You've made a mockery of our nation and people.

Argument opposed

While the Obama administration released parts of its visitor logs, previous presidents didn’t and there’s no requirement to do so. Releasing the logs could have negative impacts on privacy, national security, and policy development.

Another Democrat witch hunt. The Democrats continue to interfere in the operation of the government. The President advises these meetings have our national security at stake. Releasing the names of who he meets with will only serve the fake news media trying to undermine and obstruct the new administration.

Why no? Because it only feeds false news, guessing games, and lies. There are good reasons for meetings unknown to the public. If you don't know that you have to be lacking. The Whitehouse and president are not existing to entertain you but to serve and protect you, let them do their jobs!

Let the White House talk to whomever they want to get their job done. Why all the public scrutiny about visitors? Do they have the same scrutiny over phone calls and email? Government is messy enough. Public scrutiny only makes it more cumbersome. Officials were elected to do a job: judge them on actual results, not on everyone they happened to talk to in service of those results.

What the heck is so hard about understanding the word TRANSPARENCY? I want to know who visits 45 in the WH and at Mar-a-Lago. I want to see his taxes, I want to know his conflicts of interests. I want to know what he has to do with Russia. Transparency is the key.

Just be transparent. Both parties should have to abide by this law.

I am writing to advocate that congress demand that visit records from the White House, the visitors logs, be made public.

Trump has a long way to go before he is transparent. He needs to release ALL visitor logs whether from the White House, Mar A Largo or any of his other properties. He works for us, not the reverse.

The lack of transparency in this regime is even worse than the Nixon White House and I'm sure you know how that turned out. I remember and I am not alone

The White House is not a secret clubhouse. Trump prefers to drag everyone to Florida; who knows what he really does there. It's currently his loophole to be a secretive asshole.
