What is it?
This bill would both reauthorize and amend the scope of the Indian Employment, Training and Related Services Demonstration Act of 1991, commonly referred to as the "477 Program." The 477 Program addresses Native American employment education and training programs, creating a pool of funds from various Federal programs for the purpose of simplifying both fund dispersal and reporting requirements.
This bill proposes to combine funds from twelve different federal agencies into one program with a single plan and single reporting structure. Programs from the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, and Transportation would be added.
The bill impacts the manner in which funds are allocated to tribes participating in the 477 Program.
