senate Bill S. 131

Should Federal Tax Dollars Not Fund Medicaid Benefits for Unauthorized Immigrants?

Argument in favor

States that choose to extend Medicaid benefits to unauthorized immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to use federal money to pay for these politically motivated initiatives that don’t have the support of other states’ taxpayers. Giving unauthorized immigrants access to subsidized healthcare through Medicaid incentivizes further illegal immigration.

How brainwashed do you have to be to think taxes should go to illegals? IRS estimates they have a net loss of $90 Billion on our economy every year, or ~$700 for every household in America. & these phonies think they should get soon-to-be bankrupt Medicaid. Vote-grabbing joke. Leftists are becoming complete wastes of space, their demise is soon.

👍🏻👍🏻 Senate Bill S-131 AKA the “Protect Medicaid Act”👍🏻👍🏻 I’m in full and strong support of and recommend the passage of Senate Bill S-131 AKA the “Protect Medicaid Act“ in direct opposition to California Governor Newsom’s plan to extend Medicaid to unauthorized immigrants, which is another giant magnet for more illegal immigration, which will hurt California citizens who depend on Medicaid. “Protect Medicaid Act” which would prohibit federal money from being spent on administering state Medicaid benefits to non-citizens who break the law. If a state chooses to give Medicaid benefits to unauthorized immigrants, this bill would require that state to use its own money, rather than federal dollars, to pay for that benefit expansion. Simple math says you can’t add the entire population of another country to Medicaid and still take care of the American citizens who need it. In addition, the plan is unfair to vulnerable Americans and it’s not fair to middle-class families paying taxes—taking care of them should be our priority. Compassion that cannot be sustained is not compassion.” I’m in strong agreement that “Federal tax dollars should benefit Americans, not reward people from other countries who break the law. That only encourages more illegal immigration." SneakyPete......... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. 4*6*19..........

Argument opposed

Once federal dollars are given to state Medicaid programs, it’s difficult for the federal government to determine which funds are state versus federal dollars so enforcement of this bill would be challenging. States may not be able to afford to offer Medicaid to unauthorized immigrants without federal funds.

Already a law. Don’t waste time on duplication of existing laws. Also how about that Louisiana Congress critter mind his own? Plenty of undocumented immigrants in his state. Oh wait, but his “illegals” make up the bulk of his fishing, forestry, and agricultural workers. How about you clean your own house first? Certainly my home state of Arkansas has no right to judge. Big sectors of our economy depend on immigrants. Glass houses, people.

How far does projecting our own faults onto people we fear are not like us extend? How much do we treasure hatred and dehumanizing others? Notice the targeted states. Blue states targeted by a Republican (the party that never met a chance to control others and force personal beliefs onto others—again—fearing someone might differ.) An authoritarian country is headed by a dictatorship, the direction we are being dragged.

This bill has nothing to do with healthcare or safety. It is once again a power grab by the White House to impose this Administration’s view’s on immigration onto the States through extortion. I keep hearing how big government should stay out of State government and this is a prime example. Once a State is given Federal $ the State is responsible for its use. To demand oversight of each person the money is used on in an already overburdened Medicaid system would create an accounting nightmare and bring the Medicaid healthcare system to a halt.

I understand that people want to help others in need. But which part of you eventually run out of other people’s money do YOU not understand. There is a finite amount of resources and money. Our system is at Max now. How many more illegals do YOU think is enough? 2 million , 10 million. How many more people do we need to care for before we have encountered and absorbed enough illegal immigrants?

Does the GOP just want undocumented immigrants to die if they can’t afford treatment? States can use Medicaid services to provide emergency care for immigrants who otherwise wouldn’t qualify. The Republican Party is up to their necks in disgusting xenophobia.

Why is this even a question? The DNC has no issues killing babies- but their hypocrisy is world class. This is one of the problems that attracts illegals- which legal citizens pay for. Illegals MUST go through the legal process- just as everyone that came before them. Fairness and cover the tax burden!

If we imprison illegal immigrants - which legally guarantees them the right to healthcare, why should we not provide health benefits for those who are simply here to work and contribute to our economy?

I’m in full agreement with this bill, if a state wants to cover illegals they’ll be doing it without other taxpayers money:ie Federal funding. Cut the Federal money like we do with foreign nations who act against US interests until they get their heads straight. No too illegal aliens. #MAGA

Federal dollars should not be given to state Medicare programs period. States should fund their own programs, they should not be subsidized by the rest of the country.

I think this bill is not sensible and it sounds like it’s exerting Federal power over state program. Not what Republicans are known for in terms of their messaging ? Anyway I think it’s convoluted and not a practical bill to administer. I think we have many issues to address and this isn’t the top priority- it’s a ‘show bill’ to feed and fuel the angry brainwashed base. I oppose it as it stands.

Medicaid is for those who pay taxes and are offered state aid for retirement as CITIZENS of the United States. It is not for the Federal government to use our tax payer dollars to give to those who are illegally obtaining so called citizenship in this country.
