senate Bill S. 109

Permanently Banning Federal Funding for Abortions (With Exceptions)

Argument in favor

Taxpayers shouldn't have to subsidize abortions unless they’re occurring under dire circumstances like in cases of rape or incest, or there are life-threatening birth complications.

We the people should not pay for someone’s inability to have prepared sex or use protection. Having the choice to have an abortion is one thing. Replacing your “baby daddy” with the Government isn’t the proper way to fund your abortions. I’ll say it again... it’s your choice, but the funding is yours as well.

Argument opposed

This bill would restrict women's reproductive freedom and access to healthcare. Besides, the ban on federal abortion funding is already in place and taxpayer dollars don't go to abortions.

Why on earth are people so concerned about a choice that isn’t their own?! It’s not your body! Women have a right to decide what they want to do.

This is a blatant attack on women’s healthcare. Cutting federal funding for abortions will have detrimental repercussions. Including but not limited to bringing children into poverty and pregnant individuals endangering themselves to avoid having a child.

Roe v. Wade is the law of the land. Congress may not unduly restrict a woman’s access to reproductive services and this bill is unconscionable.

No one but the woman and her doctor has a right to direct what she does with her body. I’m Catholic and a Libertarian who believes in choice AND I VOTE.

Women have the right to choose whether to have a child or not. Taxpayer dollars already don't go to abortions. There is no need for this bill and it simply further restricts women's freedom. Women are not chattel and we are not baby factories.

There’s no need for this bill, because federal dollars already can’t go toward abortions. Stop trying to restrict women’s health care, and start trying to reopen the government.

This is yet another attempt to undermine women’s rights to their bodies and to make decisions regarding their own health and well-being. Abortions should be covered in all healthcare plans, as should contraception, regardless of where the funds come from.

If a medical procedure is approved by a doctor, federal funding should not be withheld. Abortions are medical procedures.

How is it Congress (Mitch McConnell) can’t manage to bring a vote to the floor to open up the government, but they (he) have time to take away women’s rights?

Federal taxes do not go toward abortions under the Hyde amendment. If Republicans were as interested in what’s between women’s ears (brains) as they are in what’s between their legs they would drop their attempts to control a woman’s body and put efforts and money into family planning education and free birth control methods and options.

With no exceptions. Abortion should be considered murder unless the pregnancy is due to rape or incest, period. There are consequences in life and yes sex has consequences if you conceive and are not ready to. Murderous doctors have made it too easy for people to have sex and kill an unborn child. Even for an abortion to be performed for the reasons given proof should be a must. The adoption system in this country needs to be fixed so these children can be born and put in a good home with parents that love them and that wouldn't be able to have children otherwise.

Is abortion why Flint doesn't have drinkable water? Is abortion why American farmers across the grain belt are losing BILLIONS of dollars in revenue? Is abortion causing a humanitarian crisis on our southern border? Is abortion responsible for killing more Americans than opiate addiction? NO! NONE OF THESE FAR MORE IMPORTANT PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES! Including reopening the government.

It would be better if they would ban all abortions. But we have to take it one step at a time. Abortion is killing a child. Our taxpayer dollars should not be supporting abortion of any sort. Abortion should not be even be illegal for any reason.
