house Bill H. Res. 546

Should the House Express its Disapproval of Russia’s Inclusion in Future G-7 Summits Until its Respects Democracy & Borders?

Argument in favor

The Russian Federation’s invasion of Crimea, aggression in Ukraine, and meddling in U.S. elections speak to a fundamental disregard for other countries’ sovereignty and democratic norms. As long as Russia fails to respect other nations’ territorial or democratic integrity, it shouldn’t be allowed to participate in the G-7, which is a meeting of the most influential nations in the world. Letting Russia back into the G-7 now, before it improves its behavior, would send the message that the world’s most influential nations will allow bad behavior to slide.

No to Russia participating in any aspect of the G7. Putin would certainly see any lack of resolve by our country as a sign of weakness. Russia continues it’s expansionism, violation of treaties, militarization and clandestine interference with democracies. While our president and the RNC have shown little interest of addressing these atrocities, our country should not. Putin has been quite successful in his efforts to disrupt NATO by forming alliances with Turkey, aided by trump, and the release of humiliating videos of Russian forces laughing as they took over our bases days after their abandonment; that trump without any guidance requested nor accepted from military leadership, hastily and immediately abandoned after a phone call from Turkey- thus leaving a long standing and trusted ally open to slaughter by a Turkish mercenary forces consisting, in part, of Al Quida and ISIS members out for revenge. Trump allowed Turkey, a NATO ally with critical details of NATO joint strike fighters specifications, to purchase Russian anti-aircraft missile systems and bring Russian technicians into Turkish defense facilities- potentially giving NATO aircraft details to the Russians, the country whose expansionist threats caused the formation of NATO in the first place. My god, these actions alone, should be impeachable all by themselves. Any way, it is important that Putin realize that trump and his RNC enablers are not the United States- and that the Congress and the people of our country are still resolved to hold Russia to account for expansionism, treaty violations and attempts to disrupt democratic processes.

The only reason that we need a resolution like this is because we now have a Russian agent in the White House. Everything Trump has done since elected has benefited Russia not America. He has weakened NATO. He has turned over our military bases in Syria to Russia. He has betrayed our military allies. He has stolen $280 billion from the military budget for a useless wall that he originally said Mexico would pay for. He has disrespected our military leaders. He ignores our intelligence community and parrot’s false conspiracy theories made up by Putin. The real tragedy is the betrayal of American people by the Republican party. The GOP was supposed to be the party of the conservatives. I thought it was the party that would defend our constitution and our country from totalitarian countries like Russia. But it looks like Republicans in congress have abandoned their values and turned into a branch of Putin’s party, The United Russian party.

The Russians were expelled because of their invasion of Crimea. They continue to meddle in our elections and the Middle East. Argument opposed

The Russian Federation — as one of the world’s largest and most important countries — should rightfully be part of the G-7 summit. Expelling Russia from the G-7 in response to its aggressive actions in Ukraine didn’t change its behavior, but did make the G-7 less effective as a meeting of the world’s most important leaders. Allowing Russia to return to the G-7 will make the summit more effective, as it’ll ensure that the G-7 summit brings all the key nations of the world together.

Russia does not support the territorial integrity of its neighbors, and since the President won’t, Congress, through HRes 546 should stand up to Russia even though a simple resolution is merely a statement. President Putin knows well the feelings of most Americans. Russia should play no part in the G7, hello... this would reconstitute the G8, and being the G8 is exactly what President Putin is quietly pushing for by proxy through President Trump and with the force of whatever he’s holding over his head. Please support HRes 546 with your vote.

Russia should not be allowed into the G-7 until they restore Crimea to Ukraine and stop their constant incursion into Ukrainian lands. We must stand by our allies and resist Russian aggression.

Russia needs to put right what they did to Crimea and stay out of their neighbors’ business if they want back into the G-7. The only thing Trump hasn’t done is take neighboring land like Putin has done. He’s into Putin for billions of $$$. That’s why he’s afraid to follow protocol with our allies & acts like Putin is such a friend when he’s actually hacking all of our social media, voting machine network and sending out all kinds of misinformation that will bring our country down if people continue to believe that crap.

Trump is a weak president and his failure to condemn Russia for interfering in our elections, the invasion of Crimea, and subsequent incursions into the Ukraine, only make them bolder. When a country commits acts of war, you don't reward them.

Russia does not currently belong in the G-7. Its invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea is a massive display of disrespect of international law and boundaries. To allow Russia back into the G-7 would be condoning and approval of their aggressive and illegal behavior.

Russia needs to be OUT of the G-7. Trump was the one who said they should be allowed back in. Do you really think he would sign anything that keeps them out? Russia doesn’t deserve to be in G-7.
