house Bill H. Res. 430

Should the House Judiciary Committee Go to Federal Court to Enforce Mueller Report-related Subpoenas of AG Barr & Don McGahn?

Argument in favor

The Trump administration is engaged in a cover up because it won’t provide the Judiciary Committee with an unredacted version of Special Counsel Mueller’s report that includes protected grand jury testimony. Former White House Counsel Don McGahn should be compelled to testify before Congress.

No one should be able to.get away with thumbing their nose at Congress. Congress needs to go to court and give them the finger.

Laws are laws. If we allow people to publicly flaunt their lawbreaking and do nothing, we don’t really have laws do we? This tactic acceptance or even encouragement of lawbreaking from some lawmakers is fundamentally a core violation of their oaths of office. At minimum they must be evicted from office by the voters. Frankly, they deserve to be in jail for being accomplice to crimes.

Congress is doing what it is elected to do: be a co-equal branch of government and investigate when one branch is doing possible illegal activities. No one is above the law and an Attorney General who is acting as an attorney for the President and not the people and not being responsible to Congressional calls should be held in contempt and possibly arrested if the contempt continues.

Argument opposed

This bill is nothing more than a partisan attempt to use the existence of grand jury testimony that’s required to remain private under federal law in an effort to undermine faith in Special Counsel Mueller’s report. The subpoena of former White House Counsel Don McGahn may eventually be quashed by federal courts.

Good grief...It's over people. This is happening because the democrats are freaking out about all the reports coming out that are going to set them on their ear over this witch hunt. This is what real deflection tactics look like. Anymore, I'm trying to figure out which level of Dante's Inferno applies to Nadler. Probably multiple.

If the subpoena law applies to normal citizens, it should also apply to all “high profile” citizens too. The law is the law and no one is above it. When an administration directs it’s employees to ignore the law, that teaches the general public that laws are invalid and there’s no consequence if you disobey the law. This administration is encouraging anarchy by disobedience.

YES, sooner the better. Please make an example out of Barr and get the rest to testify under oath, stop inappropriate claims of executive privilege and get the unredacted facts. Show these stalls for what they are; YET ANOTHER obstruction of justice; an attempt by republican enablers to conceal their shame; an attempt to protect Trumps highly marketed self-image from the facts that undoubtedly will not support it. Establish a precedent that such behavior is intolerable in our democracy!

Congress should be able to exercise its investigation and oversight duty unhindered by the administration. I am not certain they need to see the grand jury information (yet), but they should definitely be able to compel testimony from McGahn and all others involved in the cover-up. The more the administration (and the GOP) try to resist, the guiltier they look.

Trump keeps saying he has nothing to hide, he is the most transparent president ever and the Mueller report completely exonerated him. So why is he ordering his people to defy Congressional subpoenas? Republicans are suddenly very incurious.

We need to investigate the entire Trump family. How did Jared Kushner make 90 million dollars off of a deal he made with the Saudi's? This was reported tonight on MSNBC news. The source was very reputable. I want answers NOW!

Yes. Trump, Barr & the GOP are stonewalling all investigations, ignoring subpoenas, court decisions & the American people. If Trump is so sure the Mueller report fully exonerates him, why won’t he let anyone testify?
