With politicians using xenophobic rhetoric for policy proposals, recognizing victims of Islamophobia in the U.S. is as relevant today as it was in 2001. We need to show the world that our branches of government reject religious discrimination and violence.
It is unfortunate Islamophobia happens — after September 11th and more recently after the Paris attacks. But in a country of more than 300 million people, why are we focusing on this small subsection of incidents that don't represent the whole country?
