Expressing disapproval over the gun violence plaguing America's communities, and calling on the Congress to enact comprehensive gun reforms that reduce gun violence.
Expresses support for the President's Plan to Reduce Gun Violence. Urges: (1) Congress to enact legislation based on the President's recommendations to reduce gun violence, (2) state legislatures to reject proposed stand-your-ground legislation, and (3) states to repeal enacted stand-your-ground laws. Condemns: (1) gun violence, (2) relevant parties for their roles in obstructing the ability of communities to be safe from gun violence and in proposing stand-your-ground legislation and similar legislation that compromises public safety and the integrity of the prosecutorial system, and (3) all efforts to weaken gun laws and proposals that stand in the way of comprehensive gun law reform.
Dear President Trump: You will lose my vote if you push this agenda. Do you think maybe that is the plan they have for you? Let me re-post my sentiments...”So while Hollywood pushes gun control with over 500 armed police and bodyguards at the Oscars, and Kansas Campus Carry laws laws decreased crime by 13% in first 6 months (http://dailycaller.com/2018/03/04/university-of-kansas-campus-carry/), the only ones the libs are not willing to protect with any common sense approach are our children. You might want to also check out Obama’s policies that led to the Parkland shooter falling through the background check failure (https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2018/02/28/obama_administration_school_discipline_policy_and_the_parkland_shooting.html ) Wake up, do what’s right and allow those trained and willing to take on the responsibility of concealed carry to protect our kids. End the gun-free zone. Wyoming has the highest gun ownership per capita and the lowest crime rate nationwide. The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Just ask the Oscar attendees.” Don’t be had by their emotional pleas... increase mental health/psychiatric centers, hold ALL youth accountable for decisions that affect their schooling and ENFORCE current laws; don’t go down this path, especially with the stand your ground laws... yes you and my State reps will lose my vote if they fall to this liberal agenda!
Voting NO until legislation is passed controlling the mentally ill walking our streets or schoolyards. Handguns and long rifles do NOT wander about without a mentally disturbed individuals holding them. Guns cannot drive themselves around or walk the sidewalks alone. If anyone has a video showing a gun walking or driving a vehicle, please share. Our government needs to keep us safe from the psychotic mentally ill, not the tired depressed housewife who is taking care of the home and children.
There are over 100 million of us gun owners in our country, hard working and law-abiding. WE MUST MAKE THE TIME TO GET OUT AND VOTE IN EVERY ELECTION: We can dominate most elections, stop the liberal political class and their cronies from tearing our nation apart, and protect our basic human right to self-defense.
By repealing Stand your ground laws you do nothing to curb gun violence, but turn a law abiding citizen into a criminal when they use a weapon to defend themselves. It is a well documented fact that locations that regulate firearms the heaviest are the ones that have the highest level of gun violence. Look at Detroit and New York for example. As a gun owner I support an expanded background check system, but allowing a bill to pass that could potentially criminalize us for using a weapon to defend ourselves, which is the reason we carry them, is both moronic and ignorant. This will enable criminals to do their “work” without fear of retaliation.
It’s beyond me why adults are so wrapped in popular narrative and politics that a common sense approach to gun laws cannot take place. The proof is in the pudding, it’s clear, and while there are so many issues involved I’m tired of hearing change is not needed or it infringes on other rights. With all the brilliant people involved we can’t find a way to protect our schools and the public and protect current rights, I just don’t buy it. For instance I agree we have a mental health crisis in this country. The resources are scarce if at all, it’s in the schools, locker rooms, offices, churches. We have a moral issue where violence is popularized in our society. But we do have a gun issue that deserves attention as well.
If we can get past the stupid propaganda and draft common sense legislation, I believe the hypothetical thoughts on 2nd amendment rights could be addressed in that legislation. We are also responsible for the lack of governance going on in govt today as citizens because some of us can’t go 5 seconds without saying republicans, democrats, liberals, conservatives, and the top 2.....Obama and Hillary. I mean citizens are literally like kids arguing back and forth. Ultimately, legislation is needed and everyone’s concern can be addressed in it if people stopped dwelling on dumb sh*#!!!! If someone is concerned about guns eventually being taken away address it inside of the legislation, but ultimately DO THE WORK! Put a bill on the floor already and stop whining and complaining about hypothetical bull and who did what when. Politicians and some salty citizens need to stop loving the sounds of their own redundant voices and put pen to paper and do something already!!! Leaders are typically SOLUTION ORIENTED in a timely manner, so get it done!
