Official Title

Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States should ban and prevent the import of shark fins from sharks caught through the practice of finning, and for other purposes.

Summary

Expresses the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States should ban and prevent the importation of shark fins from sharks caught through the practice of finning. Recognizes the threat shark finning poses to sharks and condemns the practice worldwide.
This act should be stopped at once. Is a cruel practice of killing an animal without any restriction. These fins are used to provide a tasteless food not worth the damage being made to the environment.

Aside from shark Finning being absolutely barbaric, there is no sure way to tell if the imported fins were caught legally or illegally poached off of wildlife reserves, an increasing problem due to dwindling shark populations in unprotected waters and lack of funding and manpower needed to patrol protected waters.

No food should be enjoyed that requires the intentional slow drowning of a creature. This soup was intended to prevent waste from a carcass, not show off or ability to kill w/o need.
