Congressional Comment: Should The House Call on Iran to Release Imprisoned U.S. Citizens?

Argument in favor

The U.S. must be assertive in negotiating the release of its citizens when they have been wrongfully detained overseas — this resolution shows Congress' support.

Any deal with Iran should be contingent upon the release of all Americans being held.

Argument opposed

It seems unlikely that Iran will release these prisoners just because Congress passed a resolution with no teeth.

We should treat all nations as expect them to treat us. How do we feel if Iran wakes up and do the same. Demand we release all the prisoners we have from Iran. Yes. We usually think other nations go not deserve the same rights as U.S. . Is we expect to have any rights in the future we have to prepare now for treating all other nations with respect especially the ones we hate or disagree with. We may feel at this time we are the most powerful nation in the planet and we can apply our well on any nation. But the history full of those in fact a very simple and analysis of current data shows Ed will not dominate fir long do we should practice being able to get along with others . How do feel when other nations apply their well on us? Mutual respect assure all of us in this small planet that we can survive and be happy without fighting or applying wells to settle and even the score.

The House has already lost credibility with Iran and the Middle East on many occasions. The release of prisoners has been repeatedly discussed as a priority of President Obama's during the nuclear talks with Iran. The House passing this law is just another way for them to scream at the wind and pretend they get anything done at all.

While this may not have any actual military backing, it's a step in the right direction toward making a more secure nation and world.

There is literally no reason why we shouldn't require Iran to release its American prisoners. We are giving them nuclear capability, $150 billion dollars to spend as they wish, and much more. Yet they can't even give us back our fellow citizens? This deal is looking more and more like a one way street.

Our president is an idiot for not doing it sooner and he also looks weak to the Middle East. Obama is nothing more than a laughing stock in the Middle East and he and his administration are too stupid to see that.

Not sure why we would sit down for negotiations on nuclear matters BEFORE we try to get our hostages back.

Barack Obama should be impeached for excessive abuse of executive actions. He continues to unilaterally push his policies into law and congress has not done anything to stop it. This deal with Iran is a terrible idea and doesn't guarantee anything with regards to security. It only proves that Obama is motivated to establish relations with dictatorships and nations affiliated with terrorists and doesn't care about the interests of the American people. Legislators from both sides of the aisle need to come together and realize that this man must be stopped. We need to protect our American citizens and not allow our interests and security to be overlooked.

This agreement is worthless. Thomas Jefferson learned the lesson current Pres. Obama hasn't learned. You can not trust the Iranians. The Koran okays lying to the infidel. This is a disgrace and if the senate doesn't reign this outrage in the senate is a disgrace. This is pointedly directed to the democrats. Do you really want to go down as a liar with the President of the USA. If you like your doctor you can keep your doctor. This has been nothing short of treason, which side are you on?
