The assassination of Russian opposition leader and Putin critic Boris Nemtsov in 2015 has not been properly investigated. The sham trial that ended in 2017 didn’t reveal who ordered the assassination. A new investigation is needed to ensure justice for Nemtsov and his family.
A 2017 trial already concluded that five Chechen men were responsible for planning and carrying out Nemtsov’s assassination. There’s no need for further investigation — this matter is closed. Additionally, reopening this issue would strain an already tense U.S.-Russia relationship.
