house Bill H.R. 987

Strengthening Healthcare Outreach Under Obamacare, Banning ‘Junk Plans’, and Getting Generic Drugs to Market Sooner

Argument in favor

This bill would reverse the Trump administrations efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and weaken protections for pre-existing conditions by offering "junk plans". It’d also accelerate the development of generic drugs so that they get to market sooner and consumers can realize savings.

Yes. Strengthen ACA. Bann junk insurance plans. I support this bill. I want my representative and Senators to support this.

This bill has my seal of approval. It should not be legal to make a profit in healthcare.

Universal health care for all! You are a fool if you think the GOP is going to do anything to protect you. They appear to support medical bankruptcies which account for a third of the total.

Argument opposed

This bill would reduce the health insurance options available to consumers by cutting off access to short-term, limited duration plans or those that cover less and are relatively inexpensive. Not only that, it’d also waste millions of tax dollars on the inefficient Obamacare Navigators program.

Obamacare needs to be totally GONE! Propping it up with a bill like this helps no one. Not acceptable unless Obamacare is completely dismantled and thrown into the dustbin.

👎🏻👎🏻This Bill (HR-987) Does Not Have My Seal Of Approval👎🏻👎🏻 This bill would reduce the health insurance options available to consumers by cutting off access to short-term, limited duration plans or those that cover less and are relatively inexpensive. Not only that, it’d also waste millions of tax dollars on the inefficient Obamacare Navigators program. The “SINGLE PAYER OPTION” is not a viable option. See Europe. This is just another Democratic attempt to keep the ACA alive. SneakyPete..... 👎🏻👎🏻 👎🏻👎🏻. 5.15.19.....

I can't support this bill while it does nothing to correct the many problems in the ACA. It throws more tax money to bigger waste. This is another false promise by government employees who want more if our money.

All the plans I keep getting offered are monthly donations to insurance companies that don't cover anything. On top of paying monthly I would still have to pay full price for Dr visits, medicine & a high deductible for hospital visits.

This bill makes sense to me, in the ever changing complex world of health care. At the very least it appears to stem the inane Trump tide of bashing the Affordable Care Act without proposing a suitable replacement.

I’m a juvenile diabetic with a number of other pre-existing conditions. My insurance premium went down $200 per month while my plan went from Silver to Gold this year. All of this is no thanks to any of my GOP representation. Obamacare works for many of us. You guys need to get serious or eventually even the Oklahomans in this Red State will be done with you. The gig is up.

ObamaCare is a total disaster. He lied about the cost, he lied about the coverage, he lied about keeping your doctor!!!! We need a totally different program that can be purchased across state lines & causes companies to compete for our business & takes ObamaCare completely off the table

Constitutionally, the Gov’t has no authority to take over the health care industry. The free market provides the best healthcare for the most people at a reasonable price. RESTORE OUR HEALTHCARE TO A FREE MARKET SYSTEM.

I know this goes against capitalism but that’s not the only good reason to back this. As the sky seems to be the limit on taking the American people in general to the cleaners this would make healthcare a wee bit easier for those that need to curb healthcare cost the most.

It's about time that we put forward a comprehensive plan to improve/fix some of the shortcomings in the ACA. This is a good package of adjustment. We still need to address "real" affordability be ensuring that providers, drug companies, and insurance providers are making a fair profit and not basing all their cost points on "what the market can bear" when life and death are in the equation.

This issue ranks as one of the top concerns of Americans. It is time for the US to join "First World" countries in treating access to healthcare an inalienable right! Not a privilege of the wealthy.

Trump and the Republicans have and will continue to threaten to take away healthcare, Medicare and Medicaid Benefits to Americans. They will do anything to continue their GOP tax breaks to the corporate donors and stay in power. They care nothing about the well being of Americans. Are you better off now then when trump took office? NO. Drug prices have skyrocketed in the last two years!

Strengthen the Affordable Care Act. The attempts to weaken or dismantle it by the President and the GOP have become par for the course as the administration seeks to destroy legislation so there is greater profitability. We NEED a nationalized system of health care as one can find in Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden, and other industrialized nations. Despite promises made during the campaign, Big Pharma keeps raising prices ( one way to lower costs, of course, is to stop advertising across all media, so those expenses wouldn’t get tacked on to what the consumer pays.

Yes, while the Affordable Care Act has its flaws, it’s far better than anything the Republicans have proposed. If we spent all of our time improving the ACA instead of replacing it, we would be much better off.
