house Bill H.R. 987

Strengthening Healthcare Outreach Under Obamacare, Banning ‘Junk Plans’, and Getting Generic Drugs to Market Sooner

Argument in favor

This bill would reverse the Trump administrations efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and weaken protections for pre-existing conditions by offering "junk plans". It’d also accelerate the development of generic drugs so that they get to market sooner and consumers can realize savings.

Universal health care for all! You are a fool if you think the GOP is going to do anything to protect you. They appear to support medical bankruptcies which account for a third of the total.

Argument opposed

This bill would reduce the health insurance options available to consumers by cutting off access to short-term, limited duration plans or those that cover less and are relatively inexpensive. Not only that, it’d also waste millions of tax dollars on the inefficient Obamacare Navigators program.

Obamacare needs to be totally GONE! Propping it up with a bill like this helps no one. Not acceptable unless Obamacare is completely dismantled and thrown into the dustbin.

I can't support this bill while it does nothing to correct the many problems in the ACA. It throws more tax money to bigger waste. This is another false promise by government employees who want more if our money.

Do the republicans really think we aren’t watching them slowly take away affordable healthcare? Short term plans with $20K out of pocket every three months is really not health insurance. Do you even look at these plans?!?

We need a single-payer System, but it could be phased in by reinstating the public option and improving the ACÁ now while ongoing BIPARTISAN discussions achieve real change that would move us toward single-payer.

The ACA was the first step of many to improve our healthcare system. You can’t take one step and refuse to take another only to call it a failure. Keep walking towards the finish line.

Yes! This bill would reverse the immoral efforts to sabotage the Affordable Care Act and weaken protections for pre-existing conditions. It’d also expand ACAs premium assistance tax credits so that they make getting coverage more affordable for all Americans.

Yes the ACA must be improved. Trump & the GOP have been trying to destroy it.Which takes health care away from millions of people. Their actions are costing us more money for our coverage & they are attacking the protections in the ACA that we have. Trump & the GOP want to give us shitty health care that doesn't cover anything. Which leads to huge out of pocket expense. We need premiums, deductibles, & out of pocket expense to come down. We also need prescription drug prices to come down.

We are just patching up the Damage Done ACA by the Republican leadership, it should be understood as plain old health insurance reform. This Must be understood as a bridge and the next step to comprehensive medicare-for-all! Healthcare is a right not a privilege this is a quintessential right-to-life issue🗽
