Sanctuary Campuses: Should Colleges That Don’t Comply With Immigration Law Be Denied Federal Funding?

Argument in favor

Colleges and universities that refuse to comply with immigration law should have their federal funding for student loans and grants cut off. If the people who live in that state support that policy, they can pick up that tab.

You have American kids not able to get into colleges because illegals are taking the slots available. People need to be here legally or not at all.

Absolutely! You don’t get to pick and choose what laws to follow. Same with sanctuary cities/states!

They are in violation of federal law. Yes funding should be denied and why has the feds not taken action against them. Such as arrest and ice deporting illegal students??

Argument opposed

It would be incredibly spiteful to deny institutions of higher education access to loans that enable more students to further themselves academically simply because the school doesn’t want to help deport unauthorized immigrants.

This is a joke right? It is absurd that having a conscience under the present administration now puts cities and college campus in legal jeopardy. Where is the common sense in this? We are human beings who are supposed to care for one another not be lemmings in a political ping pong match

How many more ways can the Republican Cult find to demonstrate hate, bigotry, racism, and division? They really need to rename themselves the White Nationalist Party.

Everyone deserves an education. If someone can prove that they pay taxes if they work, they should be allowed to study in peace. They will only contribute better to our society.

This is another Republican act of oppression. The great oppressors idea of MAGA is to make it nearly impossible for minorities to obtain educations, but the Republicans will work hard to make sure none of the corrupt schools or their officials are charged with criminal acts, in their part of accepting Bribes from rich white folk, eh.

Colleges should not receive federal funding period. It’s ridiculous how much they charge for tuition, then the government forces taxpayers to guarantee the loans. Stop ripping off the American people.

You don’t get to pick & choose what laws you follow. Especially not if you get your money from people obeying the laws. The same should go for private schools because they get subsidized by the gov’t. Charging Americans tens of thousands of dollars a year & then letting non-citizens gain admission, potentially over actual citizens, is a slap in the face.

Not only is this bill wrong, but it slams home the ugly blatant desire of this administration to keep out a diverse body of students, including students of color and of different religious beliefs. The perverse picture of #45 hugging the American flag a few days ago, is a signal that he, his administration, members of the GOP that align themselves with him and those of his base, is for whites only, the wealthy and Kool-Aide drinking followers.

Sanctuary Universities & Colleges are Really Democrats Sanctuaries Colleges and universities that refuse to comply with immigration law should have their federal funding for student loans and grants cut off. If the people who live in that state support that policy, they can pick up that tab. We constantly are seeing that more and more Higher Education Educators 👩‍🏫 👨‍🏫 🤓 are advocating Socialist/Democratic philosophies and agendas funded heavily by American Taxpayers through Federal grants. By all means grant and student loan funding should be provided through local governments and taxes. SneakyPete..... 👎🏻👎🏻👿👿👎🏻👎🏻. 3*15*19.....
