State Age Rating Flexibility Act of 2017
To amend title XXVII of the Public Health Service Act to change the permissible age variation in health insurance premium rates.
State Age Rating Flexibility Act of 2017 This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to increase the permissible variation based on age for health insurance premiums for coverage offered in the individual or small group market from a factor of three to a factor of five, or to a factor determined by the state. This applies to plan years starting on or after January 1, 2018.
This bill would place an unfair burden on the elderly and cause financial tragedy for many. It would negatively impact health care outcomes and over burden hospital systems with seriously I'll people using the ER as their only source of health care access
