Stop with the abortion garbage. You cannot afford equal rights to a person and a fetus because a fetus uses a woman's body to live. You either afford the woman the right to choose if/when she will bear a pregnancy to term, or you allow women to be enslaved to their reproductive systems. I am a person. I am born. As such I have rights and protections under our laws and Constitution. In order to give those rights to a fetus you have to take them from me.
As long as taxpayer dollars are being used to fund any health care, abortion cannot be excluded. Lack of access to abortions can endanger a woman's life, even if her physical health is not in immediate danger. She may seek alternative, unsafe methods to achieve the same end, or she may follow through with the pregnancy without sufficient means to support a child. This deeply affects her life as well as the life she is able to provide her child. Thus, access to abortion is just as important as access to any other health service. It is discriminatory and can pose serious risks to women by depriving them of this right.
"MADRE partnered with a coalition of organizations to confront the abortion ban. These organizations included the Autonomous Women’s Movement (Movimiento Autónomo de Mujeres-MAM), a Nicaraguan women’s rights organization; the Center for Constitutional Rights (Centro de Derechos Constitucionales); and the International Women’s Human Rights Law Clinic at CUNY School of Law."
