Secret Service agents should be paid for their overtime work. Without this bill, that won’t be possible. If Secret Service agents aren’t paid for their overtime work, it’ll also worsen the Service’s existing recruitment and retention problems.
Congress should revise the Secret Service’s budget upwards instead of having to pass waivers each year to authorize their overtime. Given the Trump family’s personal wealth, they should pay for the additional Secret Service costs above the average that they’re incurring.
