Title

Improving Broadband Access for Veterans Act of 2016

Official Title

To require the Federal Communications Commission to submit to Congress a report on promoting broadband Internet access service for veterans.

Summary

(This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary has been expanded because action occurred on the measure.) Improving Broadband Access for Veterans Act of 2016 (Sec. 2) This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to submit to Congress a report on promoting broadband Internet access service for veterans, in particular low-income veterans and veterans residing in rural areas. In preparing the report, the FCC shall provide the public with notice and an opportunity to comment.
This bill requires the FCC to submit a report on making broadband internet service available to vets—particularly rural and low-income. High-speed internet is invaluable in the job market, allows vets to use their talents in remote work, and provides opportunity for distance learning so our veterans can continue their education through online programs. This is definitely something the Congress should move on and I certainly support it!

I don't know much about this, but as a veteran with terrible internet service, yea.

Specifically, for whom, how to apply, costs? The information found here is sketchy at best. The idea has merit, but to say yes or no, requires more info.

This would be something good if it was life and death but this is a luxury and tax payers shouldn't have to foot the bill. BTW I'm a disabled veteran.
