I've been an employee of the post office since 1991. I spent 13 years as a sub before becoming a regular carrier, missing a lot of my children's events as they were growing up. Why shouldn't those 13 years count?
I have worked 24 years at the USPS, but 6 of those years are not credited towards retirement since I was a rural carrier associate. I would be very happy to be able see those years be treated as creditable years.
I have worked for the USPS for almost 29 years. 5 of those years will not count toward my retirement because I was an “associate”. Please allow us to buy back those years. It was allowed prior to 1988 and should be allowed now. Don’t let our hard work count for nothing.
Although I was "full time" working 48 hours a week, I was not "career". 5 years of non "career" status. 26 years later, my body is wearing out. If I could get those years to count for something, maybe I could enjoy my retirement without a wheelchair!
I was an RCA for 13 years before being awarded my route, and becoming a full time rural mail carrier. In those 13 years I received no benefits. Dedication to a job that the postal service is unthankful for.
I spent 9.5 years as an rca and now doing the same job as a regular rural carrier; I actually work less hours than I did as an RCA. Those long hard hours as an RCA should count towards retirement. Carriers will not make it with 10 to 20 years as an RCA and then another 20 to 30 as a RRC. When the package volume increased; so did the wear and tear on our bodies. If we can’t make it to regular retirement many will be on disability retirement due to our bodies giving out from repetitive motion.
I just made regular after 11 years as a rural carrier associate. I’m 56 and it sure would be great to buy that time back. Please consider this for all of us that have worked so hard to finally make regular.
I have worked for the postal service for 8 years. 5 as an RCA. I ask to include that title in the bill so we are able to buy back our time for retirement. We work hard. Please vote Yes. Give us the opportunity to buy our time back.
I have worked rlfir the post office for coming up on 8 years and I've been regular for 2. I've missed numerous family events and also a great deal of time with my children while they were younger. I would like my six years as an RCA to count towards my retirement.
