Should Congress Allow The Miami Tribe of Oklahoma To Revoke Its Charter?

Argument in favor

Allowing the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma to revoke their charter will improve their ability to develop their local economy by getting rid of onerous restrictions. They asked for it, and Congress should give it to them.

If that's what they want to do and they vote for it why not is it time to let them go isn't it time to let them live their own lives.

Argument opposed

It seems overly bureaucratic for tribes to have to ask Congress to revoke their charter, why not allow them to simply file paperwork with the Bureau of Indian Affairs?

Why does any person need the federal government to grant their blessing in order to live their life the way they want to? The federal government should have no role in the affairs of these people. If they want to live a certain way and are willing to support themselves, this shouldn't even be a discussion.

The federal government does not need to make decisions for the tribes.

Paperwork should not hold up the process of tribes being autonomous
