Helps the private sector make sounder investments by knowing the EPA cannot veto projects after initial permits have been issued.
Argument opposed
Eliminates an important safeguard under the Clean Water Act, which ensures that the EPA can carry out its oversight and enforcement responsibilities to protect our nation’s water sources.
Impact
If enacted, the bill's prohibition of EPA veto authority of certain projects would mean that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers would have final say in regard to weighing the environmental impact of certain dredging projects.
