Should $300 Million Be Spent Each Year on Obamacare Outreach?

Argument in favor

Obamacare marketing has been massively underfunded by the Trump administration, and it’s necessary to put more funds into helping people enroll in health insurance to expand health insurance coverage and stabilize the marketplaces.

I believe that until we eliminate the necessity of the health insurance industry, we need to do everything we can to get people to buy comprehensive health insurance in order to relieve the burden of uninsured and underinsured on the healthcare system. Therefore, the money we should responsibly spend (audits are essential) on marketing good health insurance plans such as the Affordable Care Act plans are necessary. The Republican efforts to undermine the ACA and force people to buy lesser plans or drop insurance altogether are just ruining healthcare for all Americans.

Fund this while moving quickly toward universal single payer healthcare, cradle to grave.

Argument opposed

The navigator programs that this bill seeks to fund are poorly run and inefficient. There’s also evidence that funds meant for ACA outreach may have been misspent — so there’s a possibility that funds appropriated under this bill might suffer the same issue.

Are you kidding me? Obamacare enrollment has gone down because most people don’t want it! It doesn’t help them. Everyone is aware of it, so don’t you think if it were so great that everyone would get it? It’s a money sucking joke.

Ummm...no. This bill does nothing but prop up an Obamacare program that was just a redistribution of wealth, that financially hurt more people than it proposed to help, and created fraud and abuse from its inception—lining the pockets of left wing organizations. And, I’m sorry, people have to take some responsibility for accessing healthcare and healthcare information. Everyone and their grandmother accesses the Internet. TV commercials, radio ads, brochures at public offices, senior centers, libraries, banks, etc all serve to inform. I live in a rural area, so I know. Use the money to serve our vets. Hell, I’d rather the money be donated to rural free clinics, than used to promote navigation of information. Maxine Waters, why don’t you help the constituents in your district. THEY are in dire need, while you don’t even live in the district, and have amassed millions $$$$ over the years on a Congressional salary. So just how does that happen? Through legislation like this, folks, that’s how!

Until we have Medicare-for-all, absolutely! We need to undo the damage that this criminal presidency has done to the ACA.

Another wasteful social spending program paid for by the 50% of American Taxpayers for the 50% non payer and illegal immigrants. SneakyPete..... 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. 12*14*18.....

Why should any funds be put toward Obamacare when my ACA premiums will still be at $2000 a month. “Affordable” Care Act, what a joke!

We, the people, only want the level of health care that you, our elected representatives enjoy. Healthcare is a human right. All the talk of death panels is profoundly suspicious when the party of Individual-1 revpeatedly attempted to deny healthcare to all but wealthy ‘white’ men likes them selves. Women are to serve as Handmaids and all of us are to quietly die so that they can have more profits to enjoy. We need Medicare for all, like the rest of the industrialized nations enjoy, not more ploys to kill Americans through denying health care. Help!

Trump cut the marketing and public information outreach by 90%. Republicans won’t stop until they kill this program that millions depend on. Restore the funds to the level before Trump got his greedy hands on them. Then work to implement Medicare for all.
