No Pay for the Secretary of Homeland Security Until DHS has a Biometric Entry-Exit System

Argument in favor

Homeland Security has been required to implement a biometric entry/exit system — but it hasn’t been implemented at all domestic air, sea, and land ports. Many people remain in this country illegally. Withholding the DHS Secretary’s pay until the system is fully functional is a good incentive.

All federal politicians, bureaucrats, administrators, cabinet members, etc., should have their pay withheld and receive NO retirement benefits until they start working FOR US, U.S. tax paying citizens who are forced to pay them to dump on us!

Withholding the pay from the DHS would be a good start, but realistically, the POTUS himself should be accountable. And why not subject Congress also for not following up via committee. I would have the DHS Secretary in every day for a report. He would either resign or allow POTUS to nominate someone else. The reality is OUR POTUS isn't interested in Homeland security. He has his Government paid protection for life. A narcissist, and not a patriot.

Argument opposed

Withholding the DHS Secretary’s salary until the biometric entry-exit system is up and running is a cynical plan that is unlikely to speed the process of implementing the entry-exit system. It also seems disingenuous for Congress to withhold the pay of a Secretary they had previously confirmed.

Seems hypocritical for a Congress that isn't doing its job to withhold pay from someone because that Congress believes that person isn't doing their job.

Withholding pay is a childish way to try to get people to do what you want. If they aren't doing their jobs they should be removed from their jobs, but withholding pay until they do what we want is like telling kids they can't have dessert until they clean their room. Inane, childish and not at all respectable.

Congress isn't having pay withheld for achieving absolutely nothing. Why should the DHS? This is another empty bill, full of "horses and circuses" intended to mislead the American public. It would take substantial sums of funding that the DHS does not have due to Congress shenanigans. If our current Republican Congress was actually honest and ethical, we wouldn't even be discussing this. The DHS would receive the funds they need to be effective instead of slaps on the hands for not achieving goals that are NOT achievable unless adequate funding is made. A bill to withhold the pay of our Republican Congressmen, who are doing everything possible to destroy the governance of our country, WOULD be appropriate. I will vote for that.

Have you lost what some might refer to as your minds???--despite all evidence that you have nothing in your teeny weeny skulls? How does this accomplish anything useful for US security? I am aware that none of you have ever had a real job--your inability to gasp how organizations actually work has been obvious since incompetent committee members questioned Clinton & the head of Planned Parenthood! In your misguided decision to cut the federal budget indiscriminately, I wonder exactly how you expect this to be accomplished? The only situation in which you get more for less is on a diet--clearly none of you have figured that out yet! GET OVER YOURSELVES & STOP THIS FOOLISHNESS!

This is another of congress' time wasters. The only way I'd vote yes on this was if congress started docking itself for these time wasting bills, instead of actually doing something.

The belief that a single system will fix illegal immigration, and withholding someone's pay until it's complete is lunacy. If he's not doing his job or performing unsatisfactorily overall, then replace him. Don't dangle his pay like a carrot. We are not in grade school.

If anyone's pay is to be withheld it should be congress for not doing their job. This is an absurd time wasting bill. Shame on you Graves

We don't withhold pay from Congressmen when they fail to accomplish things, so I don't see why this would be any different.

If this is set as the number one priority for DHS, then there should be consequences if objective is not met. However, this should also apply to Congress. Bottom line.....if someone is not doing their job, they should be removed.

The SoDHS is not directly responsible for the implementation of this technology. Although it is essential to our security, withholding pay from someone who Is doing their job is preposterous. If we were to do so, it would not force the thousands of airports or seaports to cooperate any faster.
