house Bill H.R. 4669

If a Special Counsel is Fired Should They be Able to Ask Courts to Review Their Termination?

Argument in favor

This bill would protect the integrity of investigations carried out by a special counsel by shielding them from wrongful termination and ensuring they can request a legal review of their firing.

There is a reason special counsel is named special counsel. There needs to be checks and balances. A court review of the termination of special counsel is the check & balance against the president.

Absolutely the firing of a special counsel by an administrator should be subject to review. It’s a blatant conflict of interest that the president being investigated has the power to fire the people doing the investigating. It’s a shame that we actually need legislation for this.

I think the Special Prosecutor needs to be protected from the President’s ability to fire him, especially given the way this administration has demonstrated its lack of knowledge of the constitution and how our government works. The president does not have imperial powers - he/she works for the citizens of this country, not just his billionaire friends. Taking acts to enrich himself and his family for generations to come is beyond anything we’ve ever seen and is offensive to most Americans. I fear we are headed for something worse than Watergate.

Argument opposed

There’s no need for these procedures to be put in place, as any administration that fires a special counsel under murky circumstances would face calls for impeachment.

Mueller is a big Hillary and Obama Democrat and is seriously biased and flawed! Now the DOJ Inspector General has all the information and text messages from the cell phones from Mueller and Comey’s cronies cell phones! There is massive corruption under the Obama administration! Now it’s found out that Obama sent Hillary Clinton classified messages on her private unsecured server! That is in violation of the Espianage Avt and against constitutional law! We got em! There will be All Hell breaking loose and soon! Charges of Treason abound! To include Obama!

In reading the reason to vote Nay, the author wrote “There’s no need for these procedures to be put in place, as any administration that fires a special counsel under murky circumstances would face calls for impeachment”. Now, we all know that the republicans control congress and so far they have turned a blind eye to all of Trumps impeachable offenses and are actively working to discredit the special counsel should he indict or prove Trump obstructed justice and/or colluded with Russia to help his campaign. That is EXACTLY why a bill like this is needed.

Unless we want “President” to become synonymous with “Supreme Overlord”, then yes, we do need these checks and balances.

The special counsel needs to be protected from the dictatorial tendencies of this administration especially when the President is under investigation by the special counsel. Not even the President should be allowed to impede an investigation. That’s obstruction of justice!

We all know the only reason a president has a special prosecutor fired is to get away with a crime, and to obstruct justice. Period.

The president and his cult followers are dangerous to EVERYTHING our good people are about, and what our functional and appropriate and decent government should be. That is, a bipartisan position by the president, a semblance of honesty at the least, a merging of viewpoints by all in order to have ADULT five-and-take discussions, and inclusions of majority public opinion in coming to conclusions that are best for ALL people’s, not just the right. And beyond all, a non criminal, non racist, INTELLIGENT and POLITICALLY-savvy man or woman, regardless of religious affiliation. Preferably a woman. ME TOO. Religion should be included only in certain circumstances. I believe because a person in charge is a “Christian” does not mean they should cram it down ALL people’s throats, but instead to represent ALL people, in a professional, government- and law-based view. The president should be a very special person, not an angry, ignorant old fool who does not know anything and sits in his SHIT HOLE and pours his stinky poop all over the world. I’m so ashamed right now to be under his autocrat wanna-be RULE!

The independence needed by a Special Counsel—to go where the facts lead them—means that nobody who may become a subject of the investigation should also be in a position to remove them from office. Special Council investigations arise out of extraordinary circumstances involving the most powerful people in government. Therefore, they warrant extraordinary protections from interference with their duties via removal from office. Because their investigations may reach across all three branches of government, their removal—itself and extraordinary circumstance—should be subject to thorough review by all three branches.

As Chief Executive, it is a President’s Constitutional Right to fire any Special Counsel. Since in this case, it is President Trump, Snowflakes who have been trying to destroy his presidency want to change all rules. Information coming out everyday and mostly ignored by Fake News Media, indicates that this Special Counsel’s investigation has been tainted with bias, conspiracy, and corruption at the hands of Obama’s FBI, Justice Department, Clinton Campaign, and DNC.
