house Bill H.R. 4655

Argument in favor

This bipartisan bill would prevent the normalization of pedophilic behavior by banning the importation and distribution child sex dolls.

Yeah it’s been proven that the dolls and porn don’t discourage the behavior only intense therapy can. Letting people own dolls only helps to further normalize the behavior.

Argument opposed

The federal government shouldn’t ban the importation or distribution of child sex dolls, which may help keep real children safe from pedophiles.

It’s revolting, but dolls are a better choice than actual children... take away the legal substitution and they may target real kids. Ugh. I don’t know. It’s difficult to even contemplate. THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY WE NEED UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. Mental healthcare is so important.

This obviously should pass. But why is this a top priority, while we can’t get votes on keeping families together at the border, stopping the opioid crisis, and protecting individuals with pre-existing conditions whom trump is trying to screw?

What is House Bill H.R. 4655?

This bill  — the CREEPER Act — would ban the importation and distribution of child sex dolls, which are anatomically accurate renderings of children as young as three years old and are bought and sold by pedophiles. Currently there’s no U.S. law prohibiting child sex dolls, although the United Kingdom and Australia have banned them.

The bill’s full title is the Curbing Realistic Exploitative Electronic Pedophilic Robots Act.

Impact

Pedophiles; manufacturers of child sex dolls; and the federal government.

Cost of House Bill H.R. 4655

A CBO cost estimate is unavailable.

More Information

In-Depth: Sponsoring Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY) introduced this bill to ban importation and distribution of child sex dolls:

“It’s a uniquely vile person who preys on children to fulfill horrific pedophilic urges. During my 20 years as a prosecutor, I put away animals who played out their disgusting fantasies on innocent children. What I saw and heard was enough to make anybody sick. Now, as a legislator in Congress, I’m introducing a bill to ban the newest outlet for pedophiles: child sex dolls. They don’t belong in our communities.”

The National Association for Rational Sexual Offense Laws expressed opposition to this bill, writing:

“It’s easy to understand how his revulsion for pedophiles led Rep. Donovan to introduce this bill. But revulsion probably isn’t the best impulse for us to be guided by when writing new criminal laws. The CREEPER Act is at best premature, and at worst could harm those it intends to protect. Let’s avoid making a new class of sex offenders out of those who may simply be trying to manage an unwanted sexual attraction in a way that keeps real children safe.”

This legislation has the support of 33 bipartisan cosponsors, including 30 Republicans and three Democrats.

No, we should use the dolls as decoys to find perverts so we can lock them up with the corrupt politicians and murderers.

I’m sorry, but only a progressive, liberal, Democrat would somehow tie this to Trump. The logic on anything they do is; “It’s Trump’s fault.” 🙀...then their heads explode🤯! Ban the dolls; although pedophiles will always find away to access victims, if only in their sick minds. How about we find away to ban the judges that let them off; oftentimes they are liberal, 9th circuit types. That might really make a difference!

Another no brainer. Where’s the bills that improve healthcare, education, equal pay, equal rights, environment, quality of life? How about increasing minimum wage & COLA for retirees? How about clean water, air, soil? How about better job trainer no programs? Upgrading our Power Grid? Protecting our natural resources by investing in renewable energy & technological advances? Policies that carry us into the future instead of stalled in the past? How about stopping the greed for more money & Power? Ending hunger, homeless? Bring ethics, integrity, & trust to government? Yes!

Not that I don't find the idea that they exist as abhorrent...but there is no victim and hence no crime. Plus there's no constitutional standing for regulating this on a federal level.

A doll can neither give or reject consent, it is a piece of plastic. It is gross and repulsive, however the alternative could be far more disturbing and damaging to actual children.

Pedophilia isn’t going to disappear because we stop selling child sex dolls. It’s possible that such tools provide an alternative to some people to abusing children. (Please note that pedophilia and child abuse are overlapping, but not perfectly overlapping, categories.) Maybe if we promoted more research into pedophilia, instead of just shying away from it in disgust, we would know more about the right decision here.

I can’t even believe it is allowed in the first place. When it comes to porn it should only be adults period! If you have to look at children you probably should be in jail....

Is this a joke? As a teacher of young children, I find this very disturbing. We shouldn’t even entertain this idea. Guess what, USA? Singapore will kill you for this. I completely agree with them too. Regardless if they have the dolls or not, they will still go after children. No wonder our country is a laughing stock.
