What is House Bill H.R. 4632?
This bill would prohibit the use of taxpayer funds for first-class travel for Members of Congress and legislative branch officers and employees.
This bill impacts luxury travel for Members of Congress.
Cost of House Bill H.R. 4632
A CBO cost is unavailable, through a decrease in travel expenses might translate to a small decrease in federal spending.
If Our Military Has to Fly Coach Then so Should Congress Act of 2014
To prohibit the use of funds provided for the official travel expenses of Members of Congress and other officers and employees of the legislative branch for airline accommodations which are not coach-class accommodations, and for other purposes.
If the legislation is as simple as represented here, it is too simple. For domestic travel, coach class should be adequate for most travel. But long-haul international travel in which the traveler is expected to be sharp and ready to work on arrival or the next morning is different. This may not be a matter of luxury; more likely a provision for our representatives to work effectively.
