Why are we increasing the amount of money it takes for higher education. Let’s stop paying for unnecessary things like war and private travel for our government officials and start investing in the future of our citizens and their young people. This bill is a sham. We need real reform not further privatization of education.
My daughter is a Manager for the Girl scouts outreach program. She had 40,000 in student loan debt in 2007 because of out of state tuition for a Graduate program, which at that time was 6,6%. She is about halfway through the loan forgiveness program which will forgive the loans at 10 years. She will have repaid over $30,000. If this program is eliminated she will be stuck with all of that high interest loan. Please do not eliminate this program! She is single and will never be able to buy a home.
Just like any money you borrow for what ever you buy you should have to fulfill you agreed upon terms. Many of the people going for higher education have no idea what they even want to be when they grow up. If you can't afford the high powered car or education then don't buy it. The same applies to education. There are plenty of jobs that don't require a college degree. Trade schools or more reasonably priced and more practical for some people. Everyone doesn't have to go to college.
