house Bill H.R. 4006

Do Laws and Resolutions Passed By Congress Need to be Accessible Online?

Argument in favor

There’s no reason for a comprehensive record of U.S. laws and treaties — even those that have expired or been repealed — not to be published online for the public.

Let everyone see what our representatives are voting on and how our reps vote, kind of like Countable ;-)

Yes within their current budget today. No new creations of task forces or information bureau, etc.

Hell Yes we want to know especially when they try and sneak additional laws with them. The problem is by the time we see it it is already law. We cant trust out Senetors and reprsentitives

Argument opposed

It seems likely that most of the current and past laws included in the Statutes at Large can be found somewhere in an electronic format, so this is unnecessary.

This is a case of wasteful spending. The information is already in plain sight on the internet already; I'm all for providing more information if the bill revealed information that is not available at all but putting what's already readily available in simply a different format is not going to make people suddenly seek out that information.

I thought this is the purpose of Countable. Past search on a need to know basis, only.
